The other Indian player who was in contention for the gold medal at the India Grand Gold Prix badminton tournament, P.V. PV Sindhu, one of India's best upcoming badminton talent, is currently ranked no.24 in the world badminton rankings and holds the no.7 spot in the junior rankings. She had her career best victory just a couple of months back in Sep-2012 at the Li Ning Masters tournament in China, where she had defeated the world.no.1 and reigning Olympics 2012 badminton champion Le Xuerui of China.
Earlier in the first round of this year's India grand prix, Saina Nehwal had backed out of the tournament citing a knee injury, when she was leading at match-point. However overall the India Grand Prix Gold 2012 home tournament has turned out to be good outing for the Indian camp, with a haul of two medals, a gold medal in the men's singles and a silver in the women's singles event.
